And life goes by....

I'm embarrassed that it's been six months since I updated this blog. Everyone is doing well - just busy :) Kate is enjoying kindergarten and Lucy is entering the lovely "terrible twos." Despite the daily chaos, life is, for the most part, good :)

Over the holidays in Michigan, Kate and Lucy got to meet their cousin Ellie.

Summer Winding Down

There's only a few more weeks of summer left and while I've known that the Fall and Kate starting school has been fast approaching, it was still a little bit jarring to get the back to school packet in the mail today with the school calendar, school supply list and bus schedule. Like Kate, I'm a mix of excited and anxious, probably (also like Kate) trending more towards anxious. It's hard to put into words both how slow and how fast 5 years has gone.

Easter!

Lucy has discovered Kate's Little Tykes car and refuses to do anything except ride in this car while in the basement.

Lucy's First Birthday and Other Happenings

Lucy has been cruising along furniture and walking behind walker toys for a long time now, but still no walking on her own.

Lucy's new favorite thing is to "talk" on the phone..

She also enjoys playing kitchen. Clearly, she is not emulating me..

Lucy turned one last weekend, which is hard to believe. I feel like the year went by both quickly in some ways and slowly in other ways, if that makes any sense. We had a small birthday party at home for Lucy, who really enjoyed the attention and food :)

At first, she was really unsure about the cupcake.

"Do you really want me to eat this thing?"

"Hmmm..it's not half bad."

"I LOVE this cupcake!"

"Give me that fork - I need more cupcake!"

This is what happens when you buy your birthday banner from Target. The funny part is that it was Kate who noticed the typo - not Paul or I!

I love to see the relationship between Kate and Lucy. I know that some day they will probably be fighting over clothes and perceived injustices, but I hope they always love each other as much as they do now.

In other news, Paul started a new job with the Federal government in mid-February. Apparently, this was just in time for us to both be affected by the impending government shut-down. Good times all around!
